MRS. ELIZABETH IYABOSOLA AINA-SCOTT (GM)

Life they say, is like a piano, what you get out of it, depends on how you play it.  Women of substance and achievements are rear gem in their own right.

For Mrs. Elizabeth Iyabosola Aina-Scott, (a veteran Public Relations and Communication expert, TV personae of impeccable repute and ingenuity), the administration of NTA Lagos Channel 10, in the last two years under her leadership, has become a source of emulation for those who cherish professionalism to the core.

Born on 1st January, 1954, to the family of Mrs. Elizabeth Aina-Scott, the present General Manager of NTA Lagos, began her service career with the Nigerian Television Authority on November 1st, 1980 as a Public Relations Officer.

After her conventional Primary and Secondary School education in the 60s and early 70s, Mrs. Aina-Scott, attended the famous Ibadan Polytechnic, Ibadan for her Advanced Level Studies in 1974, and thereafter proceeded to the prestigious University of Lagos, Akoka, from 1976 – 1979, where she studied Mass Communication, and obtained a Bachelor of Science, (B.Sc), degree in broadcast Journalism.  She undertook the National Youth Service Corps in 1979/80 as a Press Officer with the National Sports Commission. 

The urge in her for higher studies, saw her enrolled for a Master of Science Degree Programme (M.Sc) in 1985/86, (in the same University), and graduated with specialization in Public relations/Advertising.  For almost three decades now, Mrs. Elizabeth Aina-Scott, has built a reputable working career in the broadcasting industry, first, with her appointment as a PRO in 1980, where she was involved in the publication of NTA Bulletins, TV Journal for several years, and later, supervising Editor for CONTENT evaluation of all NTA Publications.  She later rose to become Head, Publication Unit, and Head, international Unit under Public Affairs/International Relations Department at different times, between 1982 to 1984.

Mrs. Elizabeth Aina-Scott’s relentless commitment to duty and unflinching influence in corporate activities, paid off, as she was involved in all corporate planning for the NTA and subsequently, headed the Department of Public Affairs/International Relations from 1997 to 2000.

During her tenureship as Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs. Aina-Scott was privilege to travel severally, and represented the NTA at both national and international for a ministerial committees, and other challenging assignments. With a track record of sound administrative knowledge and competence, Elizabeth Aina-Scott was promoted and seconded to NTA Channel 7, Ikeja, as Manager Administration, where she served from January 1994 to 1997.

On January 2nd, 1998, she transferred to NTA Headquarters as Manager, in-charge of Public Affairs, with full supervisory role of all NTA Stations, on matters relating to Corporate Planning and Public Relations.

In October, 2000, Mrs. Elizabeth Aina-Scott became the 1st General Manager to be so appointed to head NTA properties which she nurtured from infancy to maturity, with so many products introduced within her seven years of leadership, she also gave the NTA Properties, a good sense of direction which later became a reference point for planning growth and resourceful administration.  A lot of NTA staff, are today, proud owners of their own houses, courtesy of her purposeful leadership.

Mrs. Aina-Scott became a household name in the TV industry with her superb image-laundering and corporate planning expertise for the NTA, which led to her transfer to NTA Lagos Channel 10, on March 23rd, 2007, as the General Manager with a mandate to refocus, rebrand and give a new sense of direction to the station.

True to it, Mrs. Elizabeth Aina-Scott, on assumption of office, began what could be called, a new improved NTA Lagos, by affecting a lot of structural changes in the operations of NTA Lagos, through the replacement of obsolete equipment in the Engineering Division to facilitate smooth and uninterrupted 24 hours transmission, clean and clear signals to its numerous viewers.  Further to this, the SERVICOM building is presently nearing completion, to facilitate a cordial customer-friendly service attention as you approach the TV Station for business transactions and other necessary enquiries.

Under Mrs. Aina-Scott’s administration, NTA Lagos has consistently won the BEST TV AWARD in performance, at the Annual Lagos International Trade Fair, she believes so much in skills acquisition, and regular manpower training is on-going with every management staff, assigned to deliver lectures on a monthly basis, thereby enhancing productivity, as well as improving the work force for efficient service delivery.

Mrs. Aina-Scott’s rebranding of NTA Lagos has led to a new slogan/pay off – Station for excellence, and a transformation to grassroot broadcasting,  Her concern for staff welfare and retirement plan for staff, spurred her to create a FISH POND Project, where staff can appreciate  fishing business for survival after retirement, they are encouraged through her effort to regularly participate in the MONEY MAKING SUMMIT every month in the station.

A survey recently conducted by MEDIA PLANNING SERVICES, rated the NTA Lagos Channel 10, the rd position in terms of viewers preference in the first quarter of 2009.

Mrs. Elizabeth Aina-Scott’s future plans for NTA Lagos is to make the station, the Number One in Lagos State before December, 2009.

She’s happily married to Mr.Aina-Scott, and they are blessed with children.
